Akshay Kumar's sexy hairy body: 90s Bollywood hotness: OG cub
Akshay Kumar's sexy hairy body: 90s Bollywood hotness: OG cub. He's not a bear (like Anil Kapoor) but cub-lite. Just the right amount of fuzz/body hair. Are we all remembering the Suhaag shower scene? aka the one that converted a few?!
This image was originally published in Filmifare magazine and Bollywood memories just re-posted.
Yup, Akki certainly was the hottest actor from the early 90s through the early noughties. And IMO, there hasn't been another leading man who matched his sheer earthy, rugged charisma either before or after his prime. Hrithik and possibly Sid Malhotra may be more classically handsome, Aditya Roy Kapur and obv Hrithik again probably have a more ripped physique - but in terms of powerhouse sex appeal, Akshay fu***ng Kumar was and is, in a league of his own. The bevy of Bollywood beauties in his thrall obviously attest to this! :-)
There was a poll in the US sometime back, asking gay men which star's photo made them realize their orientation. The name most mentioned was Chris Evans (his shirtless, hairy chested photoshoot, and his roles in Cellular/Fantastic Four), and next IIRC was Jake Gyllenhaal (again, his fuzzy chested photoshoot/film roles). If a similar poll was to be taken among Indian gay men who hit puberty in those 10/15 years between 1992--2007, my guess is that the overwhwlmingly vast majority would identify Akshay as their muse....
BTW, if you're going to use terms referencing LGBT subgroups like "Bear", "Cub" etc, do it right. You've referenced Akshay here as "Cub Lite" since he wasn't as hairy as Anil Kapoor (whom you term a Bear). But as you may know, these terms refer not only to hairiness, but also to build. A Cub is a hairy man with a big/husky build - not as large as a Bear (and a younger demographic), but definitely towards a heavy physique/ high BMI. Akshay on the other hand was always very athletic, fit and well built. He would be termed as a Wolf subgroup, not a Cub or "Cub-Lite".
