It's not just tone deaf, but dangerous. We will never publish a list of gay, lesbian or trans men in Bollywood... in our lifetime.
How out and proud LGBTQ people are treated in India, certainly among religious factions, and mostly in South-East Asia, its horrendous. Ever read the newspaper??
They are targeted, shunned, mistreated - look at the comments section of certain known names. The threats. The blatant homophobia.
We have progressed a little, but not a lot. I stand by our brethren but worry about 'em. One wrong turn and your life is over.
White privilege among the community is fine - if you're outside India/Asia. Within, there's a trap in every corner. You have to hide for safety. Never know who is out to get you - and its usually someone in your own family and friends.
Below headlines - how far have we really come?
