Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan and now his over-chiseled body and his gym-toned abs have somehow taken over the sweet innocence and innate goody-two-shoes gorgeousness that he had when he first started.

Look at his first shoot ever; done by Dabboo Ratnani (pics beginning just after the shirtless shot from Kites). The ridiculous mullet hair, the cheesy early 90s poses, but with that near-perfect mug of his (well, perhaps his nose is a little long but still wow), Hrithik Roshan, the male Aishwarya Rai, is sort of just about perfect looking. There's an inner light, a warmth, a nonchalance and eagerness that's sort of dissipated with time and success and ridiculous amounts of money. Ah the folly of youth..

Still, a beautiful man. After the Krrish sequel, we hope he STOPS over-gyming and stops looking like Rambo or whatever he wants to physically look like for his part.

There's something magical about Roshan jnr that we greatly appreciate but not the gym gorilla.

PS: Kindly note credits in last pic, shot by the Salman Khan, the actor! Yup, Salman Khan, a closet-photographer, has supposedly taken amazing shots of Hrithik, Aishwarya Rai and others...

  2. Kudos for saying that in your byline. It's so very true. Duggu was a sensation when he started off, so very handsome and with a physical stature and superb physique to match. All through KNPH, Fiza, Mission Kashmir and leading upto MDK/KMG days. Post that, he looks completely over gymmed and way over muscled. And also so waxed/over manscaped that it looks borderline weird.

He's still got his Greek god good looks and presence but that natural, lithe athleticism and grace is less now. And with all that over gymming has come an awkwardly evident self awareness, which manifests in film after film. ZNMD or even Kodha Akbar had him looking so good, but in nearly every frame, you could sense him preening for the camera. That stilted vanity has almost replaced the charming enthusiasm and spontaneity of his initial years.

Dearly wish he would stop over gymming. And let his torso hair grow out a bit like he used to!
