Seriously, when Akshay started waxing somewhere around 2003 odd....it was really such a pity.
ReplyDeleteFrom the early 90s to the early 2000s, Akshay just defined swag and rugged machismo, with his nonchalance about his body hair. Never in the least shy to shed that shirt (and quite often his pants!) to show off that impressive physique.
This whole fad of excessive manscaping is really taking that element of earthiness and edginess away from the stars of today. It's odd how some of them would sport the most overgrown beards and 'staches possible to appear "rugged", but nary a hair follicle visible on their torsos.
Pity Akshay jumped on to the manscaping bandwagon.....but he's being showing a hint of chst hair again, in movies like Airlift. That inimitable appeal of the 90s is missing though, but then, he's 51 now. Could still give the stars a decade or two younger, a solid run for their money!
About his dance moves :-) I had some friends who used to insist that per their analysis (!!) his energetic pelvic thrusts in Tu cheez Badi hai Mast Mast, Chura ke Dil Mera and Main Khiladi Tu Anari; presaged robust talent in the...ahem....sack. :-)
ReplyDeleteConsidering Akki's reputation as a casanova, perhaps that analysis was quite on target! But seriously, Akshay in those years....surely one of the best looking, most manly stars ever in Indian cinema.
