Arman Kohli and Akshay Kumar

Armaan Kohli and Akshay Kumar. One an industry insider, the other, an outsider. The "waiter from Bangkok" as they used to call him. 

Armaan is 48 years old now - nearly 50. Still struggling to make it, despite being an industry - wait for it - "kid". His debut was way back in Virodhi (1992). Was decent looking and a good dancer with a producer father. In the early 90s, the media used to take pictures of him and Ayesha Jhulka in every magazine. They were the hot 'it' young couple of the early 90s. 

Akshay Kumar made his debut in Saugandh the year before but after a spate of flops, had his first hit in Khiladi (1992). In 1993 he had Mohra - and esp after Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast... there was no looking back.

All these industry kids get a foot in, but a boot out if they don't have that 'x-factor'. 

The 'nepotism' debate needs to die down. Producers don't make or break stars, box-office and the public does. We can write a long, long, long list of second generation star kids who never made it... but it seems an unnecessary jab now as most of second gen kids have realised they don't have the star factor - and have quietly settled down in other careers. 

We just don't want to be a version of Kangana Ranaut - just barking incessantly. Has the Queen troll ever said anything nice about anyone else? woman needs help. and therapy. lots of it.
