The level of delusion we saw when he was promoting his home production Aa Gaya Hero where a bunch of 20-year-old girls were going gaga for 50 something bloated, badly hair-dyed, pretending to be cool Govinda was just next level cringe... And we say this with love - cause we used to LOVE him!
Govinda went on to say that there was a conspiracy against him, people weren't releasing his film - but the thing is even distributors and exhibitors watch a movie before they buy and present it. None of them liked it - in many the movie had a 0 rating. People saw that it was a disaster and the movie tanked.
After the thrashing the film and the star got from critics, the utter failure at the box-office, where friends and fans were essentially telling him to ease into character roles or give up the whole gig...
Thing is Govinda was a fine actor, great comedian, incredible dancer, charismatic performer - and esp when he started in the 1980s, he was the hit, hot young gun on the scene...
If you can personify hubris - it would be Govinda. He's troubled so many film producers and directors - you can google and scroll through archives of media coverage on his errant ways... Karma finally caught up to him. He may be a good person... at heart... but wowsa the bat-shit things he's said (he was going to do James Cameron's Avatar? really???), behaved (verbal abuse, physical abuse - see the news sites of when he got into trouble with the law)... it really caught up with him.
But lets look at back in the day, when he was gorgeous. he was one of our 80s crushes..
